The bark of a Dogwood tree is quite distinctive.
We noticed that the leaves came in pairs, with one directly opposite another.
Except this one. It had three leaves.
Here's what the white blossoms look like. 
Here's the center of the dogwood blossom.
Is this the fella that's eating the blossoms?
He reminds me a little of a lightning bug.

Nature Study: Dogwood Tree

You call them lightning bugs...we call them fireflies. :) We had that discussion last summer highlighting the difference between regions of the US. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteLove your dogwood and it makes me anxious for ours to get leaves and bloom. I love that you noticed the way the leaves are arranged on the branches, really great observation.
